Hungarian arms manufacturing with the company FEG, located in Budapest, dates back over 100 years. Like other countries with AK variants, the Hungarian AK-55 started as a copy of the Soviet AK-47 Type 3 in 1957 with the first production of the rifle made official in 1959. By 1963, all components of a Hungarian AK variant were being made entirely by FEG. The Hungarians also developed their own AKM clone with the arrival of the AMM rifle.
